Keep Calm and Hit the Hookah

I spoke to a really old man yesterday that was telling about his view on marriage. He’d been married 50 years and his wife passed away earlier this month. He said that the key to staying married as long as they had was to listen to one another, not just hear what the other person was saying but truly listen to them. Hear more than the words but also meaning behind them and what they weren’t saying. After a while he said you didn’t even need to speak to one another verbally, you heard them through expressions, movements and body language.

Inshallah one day I’ll get there.

You don't even care that you're about to be a father again, you will continue to be this dumb forever ..won't you? Omg... you're gonna be the most embarrassing dad when poor Idris starts school.

I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m one of the coolest dads I know.

I feel bad for your future kids to be honest. Have you met yourself?

What if “swag” stood for something we atheists got and all you Muslims that use it are committing shirk.

I should start blogging more.

I have nothing important to say but I’m hilarious.

My Lost Soul: I won't turn my back

beautifulqalb:

There are many issues within the Muslim community that need to be dealt with..some that are simple and others that will take more effort than many of us are willing to give. One issue in particular that has always gotten me a bit choked up is the issue of how Gay Muslims are treated within the…

Where does time even go? Wallah it seems like he was born yesterday lol.

I don’t even think people know what North Africa is and how different each country is.

locamuslimah:

If so they’d also know that make a generalizing post about North Africans is stupid.

The diversity is insane.

Durrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I don’t get people on this website, I honestly do not.

I am a very light Arab Muslim and although I am technically a person of color, it’s easy for me to pass as something else. I could be Italian or Greek.. or just another white dude for all anyone knew. I understand and accept this as a factor that does not allow me to stake claim to the same struggle that other Muslim People of Color have. I am not stereotyped because I’m African American, I am not stopped because of how I look at the airport (although my name sometimes raises eyebrows) and I am not looked at oddly when I leave my house or told to go back to my country. I accept that because I am Muslim and Arab at times I will have it hard at times but I also accept that because of my skin tone and lack of an Arab accent, I can pass by through society without suffering the same abuse the majority of my Muslim brothers and sisters go through.

If you are white or can pass as white, do not compare your struggle to that of the Muslim People of Color that deal with racism and prejudice purely because of their skin color …not even factoring in the extra hate added on because of their religion.

Rumiandshit - The mercy of Allah.

Salam. I’ve often thought about this and maybe you could answer this for me. Often in the Qur’an, it is said by Allah “Woe is to him”, but then it is also said that Allah is the Most Merciful. Sometimes I can’t help but not overlook the contradiction. If He indeed is the Most Merciful, why say that?

Wa alaikum salam.

There are consequences to all of our actions and we will be warned to not do certain things as well as punished for things that we do against Allah’s laws .. just like in the real world - do the crime, do the time. We say Allah is the Most Merciful because He is, even though there are punishments for the sins that we commit, we’ve been show again and again that Allah will find so many reasons to not punish his servants even when they go against His will. There is a story about a man that was ill and two angels appeared with hammers in their hands. One of the angels told the other to go to the patient to make certain if he had done any good deed. So, the angel came down and smelt the man;s head, belly, and feet and reported to his companion that he had smelt his head and found it empty of the knowledge of the Holy Qur’an; he had smelt his belly, but had found no sign of him keeping fasts; and he had smelt his feet and found no evidence of his standing in worship for even a single night. Therefore, the other angel came to him and did the same and found nothing until he squeezed the tip of his tongue and reported that he had found a Takbir (i.e. Allahu Akbar) that he had very sincerely uttered. And as soon as the angel wrung his tongue, the smell of musk spread in all directions and, just then, the soul was extracted.

That’s why Allah is the most Merciful, even the smallest of our good deeds can outshine all the bad we’ve done.

Wow, subhanallah.

  • Yes I am.
  • They are due in July or August.
  • Yes, he turns 1 next month.
  • I love her even though she’s annoying as hell and talks too much. She’s a genuinely good person that cares a lot about everyone, once she likes you and considers you a friend - she treats you that way for good. It’s pretty awesome … plus she can cook.
